Armands Beach
Leisure Group - Armands Bay - South Bermagui NSW - Clothing Optional Legal Nude Beach Upcoming EventsArmands Beach has to be one of the prettiest and accessible nude beaches in the world
Armands beach is a little patch of paradise with a legal, clothing optional status near Bermagui on the Far South Coast of New South Wales. It is also the home of the Armands Beach Leisure Group. We are a group of friends who enjoy living the naturist lifestyle and spending time on the beach. We are not a club.
If swimming and sunbathing in the nude is your preference, Armands Beach is the only clothes optional beach on the Sapphire Coast. It was declared a legally clothes optional by Bega Valley Shire Council in November 1993.
Through the year we also have dinners at the Murrah hall, a small community hall which is only 5kms south of the beach on the Tathra-Bermagui Rd. The menu varies depending on the season. In March we host a fun in the sun day at the beach. It is a day of fun, games, prizes and laughter. No fee. Just come along and have some fun. Local volunteer life savers patrol the beach on this day. All ages welcome.
Keep an eye out for our teardrop flag with the dolphins on it. One of our group is never far away and always happy to say hello.
The Armands Beach Leisure Group provide a safe, friendly environment to give naturism a try. There is no pressure to be nude. Our gatherings are clothing optional.
From Bermagui, drive south 9.5 kilometres along the Tathra-Bermagui Road to Barragga Bay and turn left into Kullaroo Road. Proceed along the sealed road to the Armands Beach sign and take the walking track to the beach. From Tathra, drive north 38 kilometres along the Tathra-Bermagui Road to Barragga Bay turning right into Kullaroo Road.

Armands Beach History
Armands Beach has been known as a nude beach for over 100 years. It is named after Armand Lemmeric, a man of French origin, who owned the farm at the back of Armands Bay. Armand Lemmeric regularly swam nude at the beach and was joined by other locals who did not own swimming costumes. The beach was made legal clothes optional in 1993 after strong lobbying by a Bermagui local who loves the beach and the lifestyle it promotes. What began as good friendships on this beach led to the forming of the ABLG.
Today, just like years ago, what draws us together is this pristine beach that we all love and its legal clothes optional status. A status we hope to help preserve for years to come. We are not a club. There is no president, secretary or membership fees. Like all friends we prefer cooperation and respect rather than legislation.
About Us
We are friends who enjoy the naturist lifestyle and are lucky enough to have one of the best clothing optional beaches in Australia to enjoy it on.
Some of us have been going to the beach for more than 20 years. Over that time we have met and hosted many people from overseas and across the country. We are a family friendly group that provides a safe, friendly, non threatening environment to give naturism a try. Like the beach our gatherings are clothing optional. There is no pressure to be nude.
